Yes, HelpMeSee is a 501(c)3 tax-exempt organization.  Our federal tax identification number is 27-3207754.

Your donation to HelpMeSee is tax-deductible to the full extent of the laws of the USA.  

We will use your donation where it is needed most to support our work in the developing world. For every $1 you donate, 81 cents will go towards ending cataract blindness. All fundraising or general administrative expenses are underwritten by private and family foundations that support HelpMeSee.

Yes. We strive to send your tax receipt within 2-3 days of receiving your donation that arrives at our PO Box in Hartsdale, NY. However, please be aware it may take up to 6 weeks for delivery by USPS. Please email info@helpmesee.org or call 1-844-HelpMeSee (1.844.435.7637) if you have not received a receipt and we can assist you.

If you make a contribution online you will also receive an email tax receipt immediately after donating.

You may make a gift online by visiting our donation page. The donation options online include a one-time gift, monthly recurring gifts.

Yes! Monthly donors provide funds we can count on and allow us to reach more individuals with cataract blindness. You can sign up as a recurring donor by visiting our donation page.

Once you have made your initial gift you will receive email confirmation and an invitation to create an account. By creating an account you will be able update your personal and giving information as necessary.

HelpMeSee uses the fundraising platform Classy, which is a leader in the nonprofit fundraising space. Your account information will be maintained by Classy on their secure platform.

If you are a monthly or recurring donor with HelpMeSee and do not have an online account, but wish to make adjustments to your ongoing contributions, you can do so by emailing monthlygiving@helpmesee.org or calling our Donor Services representatives at 1-844-HelpMeSee (1.844.435.7637) between the hours of 9:00 am - 5:00 pm EST.

HelpMeSee gratefully accepts securities and mutual funds as charitable donations. By donating appreciated securities, you may be able to avoid capital gains taxes and make a larger gift at a lower original cost. As a registered 501(c)(3) charitable organization, HelpMeSee can sell stocks or mutual funds without tax consequences.

If your financial services provider holds securities, including mutual funds, in your account, you can have the securities electronically transferred to HelpMeSee:

Your gift is complete on the date that the stock is transferred. The value of your gift will be the mean value of the stock on the day it is transferred. This is the most efficient way to transfer securities.

Your gift will be complete on the date of the postmark of the second envelope. It is HelpMeSee policy to sell all gifts of securities as soon as HelpMeSee is notified of the transfer by our stockbroker. The proceeds are then applied to HelpMeSee programs and related activities.

Currently HelpMeSee does not have the capacity to accept in-kind donations from individuals. However, if you would like to explore other ways you may be able to support our work, please feel free to call us at 1-844-HelpMeSee or email info@helpmesee.org to discuss.

At this time, we do not link donations to specific patients, but our before and after photos are symbolic of the thousands of blind patients whom we have helped restore sight.

HelpMeSee is working to eliminate cataract blindness by providing safe sight-restoring surgery in developing countries, where people lack access to care either because there is not a qualified ophthalmologists in their area or they are unable to afford the procedure.  While there are individuals in the United States who need care, we feel we can best tackle the problem of cataract blindness by working at the international level.  If you are interested in learning more about cataract surgery in the United States you can visit https://www.healthcare.gov/glossary/vision-or-vision-coverage/

Charity Navigator’s guidelines require that an organization file at least seven full years of tax returns with the IRS. Founded in 2010, HelpMeSee has so far filed five returns, all of which are available on our Charity Navigator profile page and on HelpMeSee’s website.
