Uno de los primeros cirujanos asociados de HelpMeSee, el Dr. Bidya Prasad Pant, ha desarrollado una larga y exitosa carrera trabajando para erradicar la ceguera. Desde el Hospital Oftalmol\u00f3gico de Geta, en Nepal, donde se calcula que ha realizado m\u00e1s de 100.000 cirug\u00edas oculares, y ahora trabajando con su equipo en Myanmar, se ha labrado una s\u00f3lida reputaci\u00f3n como cirujano l\u00edder. Cuando empez\u00f3 su carrera como t\u00e9cnico m\u00e9dico, Bidya se dio cuenta de que en Nepal no hab\u00eda m\u00e9dicos disponibles para operar cataratas entre las misiones de los m\u00e9dicos de gira que visitaban su hospital. Un d\u00eda vio c\u00f3mo rechazaban a un ciego del hospital porque no hab\u00eda cirujanos disponibles que pudieran tratar sus cataratas. Ese d\u00eda Bidya decidi\u00f3 formarse como cirujano ocular, estudiando la ceguera por cataratas y c\u00f3rnea \"porque es la principal causa de ceguera evitable en mi regi\u00f3n\". El Dr. Bidya Pant regres\u00f3 al Hospital Oftalmol\u00f3gico de Geta, del que fue director a partir de 2004, donde ayud\u00f3 a formar a m\u00e1s cirujanos que aumentaron la tasa del hospital a unas 50.000 operaciones oculares al a\u00f1o.<\/p>\n<\/div><\/div>\n

A partir de diciembre de 2011, HelpMeSee empez\u00f3 a trabajar con el Dr. Pant, que dirig\u00eda un equipo de especialistas en cataratas. Hasta la fecha, el Geta Eye Hospital ha realizado la asombrosa cifra de 61.570 operaciones de cataratas con el apoyo de HelpMeSee.<\/p>\n<\/div><\/div>\n<\/p><\/div>\n<\/p><\/div>\n

M\u00e1s recientemente, el Dr. Pant ha asumido un nuevo reto, dirigir un equipo de cirujanos en el Hospital Oftalmol\u00f3gico Tipitaka Chalupala de Myanmar. En 2016 ayud\u00f3 a establecer la campa\u00f1a de cataratas de HelpMeSee en Myanmar. En colaboraci\u00f3n con nuestro hospital asociado, el Monasterio de Sitagu, los cirujanos asociados de HelpMeSee han realizado desde entonces m\u00e1s de 3859 operaciones de restauraci\u00f3n de la vista. Por sus contribuciones en Myanmar, el Dr. Pant fue reconocido por la rama del sur de Asia del British Medical Journal con el premio al Equipo Quir\u00fargico del A\u00f1o.<\/p>\n<\/div><\/div>\n

Hablando de su pasi\u00f3n por la lucha contra la ceguera, el Dr. Bidya Pant dijo: \"Al devolver la vista, llevamos esperanza a las familias.
