Cataract <\/span>affects<\/span> more than <\/span>20 million people<\/span> globally, with the highest burden falling on low and middle-income countries where access to trained <\/span>cataract specialists<\/span> is severely limited. In low-income countries, there are only 3.7 ophthalmologists per million people, compared to 76.2 per million in high-income countries (1). This disparity leaves millions of individuals blind <\/span>from<\/span> a condition that is <\/span>successfully <\/span>treat<\/span>ed<\/span> with surgery.<\/span><\/span>\u00a0<\/span>
