Il a constat\u00e9 les effets d\u00e9vastateurs de la c\u00e9cit\u00e9 due \u00e0 la cataracte dans tout le Togo, touchant aussi bien les enfants que les adultes et les personnes \u00e2g\u00e9es.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Le Dr Wodome a continu\u00e9 \u00e0 chercher une solution \u00e0 ce probl\u00e8me sans cesse croissant, mais il n'avait pas le soutien n\u00e9cessaire pour r\u00e9aliser son r\u00eave. C'est alors qu'il a rencontr\u00e9 le Dr Glenn Strauss en 2010 et a forg\u00e9 un partenariat avec HelpMeSee qui a chang\u00e9 \u00e0 jamais sa carri\u00e8re et sa vie.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">When Glenn met Dr. Wodome in 2010, he trained him in the <a href=\"https:\/\/helpmesee.org\/fr\/msics-course\/\">Chirurgie de la cataracte par petite incision manuelle <\/a>(MSICS) procedure. With his newly acquired skill, Abram was now able to quickly and effectively treat cataract patients. However, this led to another huge challenge: How to make cataract surgeries accessible to all patients? Like many developing countries, citizens are often living in poverty. Many cannot afford the low cost for an adult cataract surgery. Dr. Wodome strived to find a solution.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">C'est alors qu'une opportunit\u00e9 s'est pr\u00e9sent\u00e9e. Le Dr Strauss et HelpMeSee ont entendu parler d'un investisseur togolais qui cherchait \u00e0 rendre service \u00e0 sa communaut\u00e9. Il souhaitait aider les personnes dans le besoin, mais ne savait pas \u00e0 qui s'adresser et en qui il pouvait avoir confiance. Glenn a pr\u00e9sent\u00e9 l'investisseur priv\u00e9 au Dr Wodome et a accept\u00e9 de financer une clinique pour lui. L'ONG togolaise Lumiere Divine \u00e9tait n\u00e9e.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Dr. Abram Wodome became the president of Lumiere Divine, where he is now able to provide free and low-cost eye care to those that are in need, through the support of the <a href=\"https:\/\/helpmesee.org\/fr\/our-partners\/\">HelpMeSee partnership<\/a>. Running his own clinic allows him to implement programs to help those in need. Dr. Wodome created a system where those that were able to afford surgery would pay for their medical fees. This allowed Abram to keep a reserve of money that would be used towards medical supplies and surgeries for those that are unable to afford it.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Le <a href=\"https:\/\/helpmesee.org\/fr\/simulation-based-training\/\">HelpMeSee training program<\/a> Le programme HelpMeSee a permis \u00e0 Abram de r\u00e9aliser son r\u00eave. Le docteur Wodome fait partie du programme HelpMeSee depuis dix-huit mois maintenant, et il pratique plus de 700 interventions chirurgicales par an. C'est plus du double du nombre d'op\u00e9rations qu'il effectuait les ann\u00e9es pr\u00e9c\u00e9dentes. Ses nouvelles comp\u00e9tences m\u00e9dicales, ainsi que le soutien financier et technique du programme HelpMeSee, ont permis \u00e0 Abram de g\u00e9rer avec succ\u00e8s une clinique ophtalmologique et d'offrir le don de la vue aux habitants de la ville de Lom\u00e9 et de ses environs.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Alors que le Dr Wodome travaille sept jours sur sept pour aider le plus grand nombre de personnes possible, il a un nouvel objectif en t\u00eate. Il souhaite continuer \u00e0 \u00e9tendre le programme HelpMeSee \u00e0 toutes les r\u00e9gions du Togo en utilisant Lumiere Divine comme centre de formation pour d'autres ophtalmologues.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">\"Je ne peux pas me concentrer uniquement sur moi-m\u00eame, mais je dois \u00e9largir mon champ d'action pour servir mon pays et ses citoyens.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Le Dr Wodome esp\u00e8re bient\u00f4t former une \u00e9quipe de jeunes ophtalmologistes d\u00e9vou\u00e9s qui travailleront dans tout le pays pour rendre les op\u00e9rations de la cataracte accessibles \u00e0 tous et faire de la c\u00e9cit\u00e9 due \u00e0 la cataracte une chose du pass\u00e9.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">\"Je souhaite vraiment que le partenariat avec HelpMeSee se poursuive et s'am\u00e9liore dans de nombreux domaines, et pour tout cela, je tiens vraiment \u00e0 remercier HelpMeSee\".<\/p>","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>Togolese ophthalmologist Abram Wodome had a vision.
