L'internat est la pierre angulaire de la formation en chirurgie. Con\u00e7u pour pr\u00e9parer les \u00e9tudiants en m\u00e9decine aux rigueurs de la chirurgie, le programme intensif s'appuie g\u00e9n\u00e9ralement sur un mod\u00e8le d'apprentissage dans lequel les r\u00e9sidents progressent en observant des chirurgiens exp\u00e9riment\u00e9s et en pratiquant des parties, puis des proc\u00e9dures chirurgicales compl\u00e8tes sous supervision. Ce mod\u00e8le pr\u00e9sente toutefois plusieurs inconv\u00e9nients, tels qu'une exposition limit\u00e9e \u00e0 des cas complexes et \u00e0 certaines techniques chirurgicales, ainsi qu'une subjectivit\u00e9 dans l'\u00e9valuation des comp\u00e9tences.  <\/p>\n\n\n\n

Pour les r\u00e9sidents en ophtalmologie en particulier, le d\u00e9fi est clair : sans une pratique ad\u00e9quate, ils risquent d'entrer dans la salle d'op\u00e9ration sans avoir la confiance et la comp\u00e9tence n\u00e9cessaires pour r\u00e9ussir une technique chirurgicale. Il existe cependant une solution pour acc\u00e9der \u00e0 une formation compl\u00e9mentaire qui peut combler ces lacunes et am\u00e9liorer les comp\u00e9tences chirurgicales des r\u00e9sidents en ophtalmologie. <\/p>\n\n\n\n

La simulation am\u00e9liore l'enseignement de la chirurgie<\/h2>\n\n\n\n

Bien que l'enseignement fond\u00e9 sur la simulation ne soit pas un concept nouveau en ophtalmologie, (1) les simulateurs modernes de r\u00e9alit\u00e9 virtuelle (RV) sont apparus comme un outil suppl\u00e9mentaire pour former les r\u00e9sidents. Utilis\u00e9e en conjonction avec un mod\u00e8le d'apprentissage traditionnel, la simulation de r\u00e9alit\u00e9 virtuelle offre un environnement contr\u00f4l\u00e9 et sans risque o\u00f9 les r\u00e9sidents peuvent s'exercer de mani\u00e8re r\u00e9p\u00e9t\u00e9e aux techniques chirurgicales jusqu'\u00e0 ce qu'ils atteignent un haut niveau de comp\u00e9tence. En fait, les r\u00e9sidents peuvent volontairement commettre des erreurs afin d'affiner leurs comp\u00e9tences en mati\u00e8re de gestion des complications.   <\/p>\n\n\n\n

(5) Il est imp\u00e9ratif que les programmes de r\u00e9sidence \u00e9voluent pour inclure des m\u00e9thodes de formation plus compl\u00e8tes, telles que la simulation VR et en particulier les programmes qui offrent un r\u00e9alisme tactile comme le simulateur de chirurgie oculaire HelpMeSee. L'int\u00e9gration d'une formation bas\u00e9e sur la simulation peut jouer un r\u00f4le crucial en comblant les lacunes en mati\u00e8re de comp\u00e9tences chirurgicales laiss\u00e9es par les mod\u00e8les traditionnels de formation par apprentissage.  <\/p>\n\n\n\n
