Chief of Marketing and Development

The Chief of Marketing and Development (CMD) at HelpMeSee, Inc. is an executive responsible for leading the organization’s global fundraising strategy, driving sustainable revenue growth, and expanding diverse funding streams to support HelpMeSee’s mission of eliminating avoidable cataract blindness worldwide.

Mission & Context

HelpMeSee is a global nonprofit organization dedicated to restoring vision to millions of individuals affected by preventable blindness from cataracts. HelpMeSee was founded by Al and Jim Ueltschi, who imagined building the Manual Small Incision Cataract Surgery (MSICS) training system by incorporating many of the methods and techniques used successfully in commercial pilot training. As co-founder of Orbis International and founder of FlightSafety International, Al Ueltschi was an icon in the aviation industry and was devoted to ending preventable blindness in the developing world. HelpMeSee trains high-quality, very low cost MSICS, along with Phaco and other cataract procedures, to ensure that all communities have access to affordable, sight restoring care. With more than 40 simulators and HelpMeSee simulation-based training delivered across 19 centers worldwide, HelpMeSee partners with governments, universities, and innovators to combat the global cataract blindness crisis. 

Key Responsibilities

  • Lead global fundraising strategy: Oversee multi-channel fundraising across the U.S., including private giving, corporate partnerships, foundations, grants and planned giving.
  • Expand and diversify revenue streams: Develop new funding sources and deepen relationships with existing donors to ensure financial sustainability.
  • Grow gifts-in-kind, major gifts and grants: Increase the value and strategic use of in-kind contributions, while expanding major gift and grant funding to support and scale program delivery.
  • Leading brand and marketing strategy: strengthen donor communications and elevate impact storytelling.
  • Lead a global development team: Mentor, develop, and lead a team capable of executing complex fundraising campaigns and donor engagement strategies.
  • Report to the COO: Provide strategic guidance on fundraising priorities aligned with HelpMeSee’s mission and program goals.
  • Maintain transparency and accountability: Ensure fundraising practices meet Charity Navigator, GuideStar standards, and the IRS public support test to reflect HelpMeSee’s strong financial health and donor trust.

  • 4,000+ trained cataract specialist globally providing sight saving surgeries to visual impaired or blind from cataract.
  • 19 established training hubs with strategic partnerships with universities and hospitals.
  • 15 countries served through current training locations.
  • 30,000+ cataract surgeries can be performed over a surgeon’s career elevating the impact in their local communities.

Profile

The ideal candidate is a mission-driven, globally minded fundraising executive with deep international experience and a track record of mobilizing U.S.-based donors to support global initiatives. They bring a proven record of building and managing diversified donor portfolios and delivering large-scale, measurable impact.

This individual is a strategic and progressive fundraising leader with demonstrated success in securing six- and seven-figure gifts. They combine high-level vision with disciplined execution, translating strategy into results. A strong collaborator, they value authentic relationship-building and excel at engaging donors, partners, and cross-functional teams to advance organizational goals.

The role is fully remote and reports to the COO, with responsibility for developing and executing global fundraising initiatives focused on engaging U.S.-based donors.

Education and Experience

  • Bachelor’s degree required. Master’s degree recommended in nonprofit management, business administration, public administration, community development or public policy.
  • Must have at least eight years’ experience in fundraising.
  • Must have demonstrated history in leadership, project management, public relations, group facilitation and event planning (in-person and digital).
  • Must have a proven track record of revenue growth in leading and managing fundraising team.

Summer 2026 Internship

Join the HelpMeSee Team with our enriching internship experience. The internship program has historically led to full-time job offers over the past several years. HelpMeSee is dedicated to helping interns succeed in their future careers by providing growth and advancement opportunities.

The position will be based out of Jersey City, New Jersey and is designated for a 100% on-site work arrangement. This is an excellent opportunity for students looking for hands-on experience to work with cutting edge technology.

The formal Summer Internship program runs from late-May/early-June through August.

KEY HIGHLIGHTS

  • Perform periodic maintenance and repairs of the Simulation-based system, including spare parts.
  • Test and configure the hardware equipment.
  • Report and resolve operational issues onsite.
  • Crating, packing, and shipping to various locations worldwide.

KEY HIGHLIGHTS

  • Must be enrolled in a college or university working toward a bachelor’s degree in Computer Science or closely related field.
  • Must be commutable to and from the Jersey City, NJ for the duration of the internship period.
  • Basic knowledge of Office 365 applications Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Outlook
  • Strong troubleshooting and configuration skills.

REQUIRED SKILLS AND ABILITIES

  • Minimum qualification – Post graduate diploma or degree in Ophthalmology. Ability to communicate effectively in English and the local language
  • Ability to work as part of a team.
  • Adequate surgical experience in MSICS & PHACOEMULSIFICATION.
  • Experience, as an instructor, in delivering ophthalmic surgical training Proven ability as an effective Instructor/motivator.
